The Belgian regulation of public procurement is based on the European regulation. The Belgian regulation applies to all governments in Belgian, also the Flemish government.

The Flemish governement focuses on using digital tools to make public procurement more efficient and on sustainability.

E-procurement

The Flemish government has opted for the use of the federal e-procurement applications and has concluded an agreement to this effect with the federal government. For the digital announcement and publication of government contracts, use will be made of e-notification. For the electronic submission and receipt of tenders and candidacies, use will be made of e-tendering.

Sustainable Public Procurement

The Government of Flanders attaches great importance to sustainable development, and this in a number of different domains. Sustainable public procurements are public contracts whereby the Tendering Authority integrates environmental, social, and economic criteria into all the phases of its public commissions.
